Wadonga Truck Failure

Firefighters at Fire Station 76 in Wodonga have lost a truck after an out-of-date fire truck suffered a catastrophic engine turbo failure, filling the station yard with oil and smoke.

With FRV running out of replacement capacity, a fire truck is now being sent more than 300km from Craigieburn to cover the gap — a desperate stop-gap until another truck can be found.

This truck should have been replaced four years ago. Instead, it’s been pushed well past its service life. The result? Failure after failure — ahead of high 30° dangerous fire weather in Wodonga.

The Allan Government knows that 65% of FRV’s fleet is past its service life — and keeps ignoring firefighters’ warnings.

This is dangerous and Victorians should be outraged. That’s why a Parliamentary Inquiry is underway, despite the Allan Government trying to stop it.
